The Hidden Helpers: Unlocking the Secrets of Elemental Servitors
Building upon energy work. Servitors are a beautiful extension of the magician and allow for a creative and artistic magical outlet. Whether short or long term, Servitors are a useful magical tool.
Recently, I have been stuck on a book series called The Dresden Files. But it also inspired me with this piece. The wizard in these books has a servitor named Bob. He is a spirit of intellect that lives inside a skull, but this spirit helps the wizard by providing information when needed. That made me think about the nature of Elementals and Servitors in the magical world.
What these helpers are
Servitors, Elements, Egregores, and Anthropomorphic constructs are created using energy(I will discuss the distinction between these categories of constructs later in the piece). They can be as simple as a thought form or as complex as something large enough to take on “God” status. They are created for specific tasks or purposes and can be used in short or long time frames.
I will say that in the years I have been reading texts on the craft from various authors, information on creating Servitors, Elementals, and their like is limited. Either briefly mentioned or regulated to small stand-alone texts. Creating such constructs is, in some circles, viewed as playing with life energy and should be done with caution. In my experience, when something is limited or spoken of in minor capacities, there is usually a reason for that. I do not think the creation of Servitors and Elementals is terrible; I think it deserves much thought before doing it. Creating living constructs is a more advanced skill. This is not something to do without proper practice and preparation.
