The Green Archetype
We are discussing what makes up the Green witch Archetype in this post. Talking general use herbs, grounding methods and a natural affinity for the elements.
The Green Witch is deeply connected to nature, drawing power from the life force of Mother Earth herself. Harnessing their power for healing, the Green Witch often works within the realms of harmony and connection. Much like the balance that nature upholds, the Green Witch honors the seasons, the tides of change, and the cycle of life.
The Green Witch is drawn to elements that reflect this deep connection to nature, incorporating plants, herbs, and flowers into their practice. These musings also make their way into the ritual space for the Green Witch, often adorning their altar with a collection of nature’s gifts. The Green Witch may even have a personal apothecary, curated from their finds in the wild. Earth, Air, Fire, and Water are key elements that the Green Witch incorporates into their practice.

Grounding In Nature
Those identifying with the green witch archetype find connecting with the earth and feeling its energies easy. Grounding is a great way to strengthen that natural connection and send energy back and forth between the planet and yourself. It allows you to hold space within yourself and observe the flow of energy and the nature of the frequencies we carry inside ourselves. The term is grounding, but exchanging energy can be done through several elements, not just the earth. However, the Earth is by far the most common medium.
These elements include earth, water, and smoke. Grounding allows us to exchange chaotic or positively charged energy with neutral energy from the elements, allowing us to tap into the various frequencies. We all have a natural element that calls to us more than the others when we seek peace and tranquility.
Grounding through the earth can be done by walking barefoot through grassy areas or patches of dry soil. This can also be done by touching a tree, through the hands, or sitting against it with your back at its base. The nature of these acts is to consciously gather the energy within yourself that you want to send into the earth. Once that energy is collected into a central point, you can then send the energy down through your feet or the base of your spine into the earth. The earth then neutralizes that energy, and you can then draw neutral energy back into yourself through those same two points and tune that energy with your natural frequency. This balances and recharges our energy and natural aura.
Likewise, these same motions can be carried out in water. When you're soaking in the bath, you can repeat these steps, but instead of working with the earth or soil, you're tuning in with the natural frequency of the water. Again, grounding is the act of exchanging energy, so you're switching out the energy within you that you want to rid yourself of and replacing it with the calm, tranquil energy of the water. This grounding technique also works in the shower, as space or bathing options can be limited or vary.
If you decide to ground with smoke, the incense should be placed on the ground so you can freely pass through the column without knocking it over or burning yourself. When working with smoke, the method changes slightly. Instead of sending the energy out through the feet or spine, the energy is being directed through the hands and torso. The energy is being pushed out in front of you and into the column of smoke rather than down into the ground. The smoke then carries the chaotic energy away, and as you pass through the column of smoke, you collect the smoke with your hands, bringing it over your body and around yourself. The incense smoke represents purified air. When using incense to ground, we tune ourselves in with the air’s frequencies.
Finding your method:
Grounding can be done anywhere and at any time. It simply connects with the Earth's energy or natural elements. Grounding daily helps our bodies and minds reset and recharge, tuning our frequency with the world and the universe around us.
If you do not already have a suitable grounding technique, try using the tips discussed here to create one that gives you balance and peace. Grounding should be a joyful experience of connection and fluid motion. The energy moves through you and the elements and back within you.
